Amos 5:14-16

¹⁴ Seek good and not evil
so that you may live,
and the Lord, the God of Hosts,
will be with you,
as you have claimed.^(A)
15 Hate evil and love good;^(B)
establish justice in the gate.^(C)
Perhaps the Lord, the God of Hosts, will be gracious^(D)
to the remnant of Joseph.^(E)

There will be wailing in all the public squares;^(F)
they will cry out in anguish^[a] in all the streets.
The farmer will be called on to mourn,^(G)
and professional mourners^[b](H) to wail.
