¹⁵ When Moses went up the mountain, the cloud^(A) covered it. ¹⁶ The glory of the Lord settled on Mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it for six days. On the seventh day he called to Moses from the cloud.^(B)

¹⁶ For we did not follow cleverly contrived myths when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ;^(A) instead, we were eyewitnesses of his majesty.^{(B) 17} For he received honor and glory from God the Father when the voice came to him from the Majestic Glory, saying “This is my beloved Son,^[a] with whom I am well-pleased!” ^{(C) 18} We ourselves heard this voice when it came from heaven while we were with him on the holy mountain.^(D)
