⁴² Make them linen undergarments^(A) to cover their naked bodies; they must extend from the waist to the thighs. ⁴³ These must be worn by Aaron and his sons whenever they enter the tent of meeting or approach the altar to minister in the sanctuary area, so that they do not incur guilt^(B) and die. This is to be a permanent statute^(C) for Aaron and for his future descendants.

⁴ He is to wear a holy linen tunic, and linen undergarments are to be on his body. He is to tie a linen sash around him and wrap his head with a linen turban.^(A) These are holy garments; he must bathe his body with water before he wears them.

¹⁷ When they enter the gates of the inner court they are to wear linen garments;^(A) they must not have on them anything made of wool when they minister at the gates of the inner court and within it. ¹⁸ They are to wear linen turbans on their heads and linen undergarments around their waists.^(B) They are not to put on anything that makes them sweat. ¹⁹ Before they go out to the outer court,^[a] to the people, they must take off the clothes they have been ministering in, leave them in the holy chambers, and dress in other clothes^(C) so that they do not transmit holiness to the people through their clothes.^(D)
