¹² Throughout your generations, every male among you at eight days old is to be circumcised.^(A) This includes a slave born in your house and one purchased with money from any foreigner. The one who is not your offspring,

²⁵ and his son Ishmael was 13 years old when the flesh of his foreskin was circumcised.

⁴ When his son Isaac was eight days old, Abraham circumcised him, as God had commanded him.^(A)

³ The flesh of his foreskin^(A) must be circumcised^(B) on the eighth day.^(C)

⁵⁹ When they came to circumcise the child on the eighth day,^(A) they were going to name him Zechariah, after his father.
