²⁴ For I tell you that many prophets and kings wanted to see the things you see but didn’t see them; to hear the things you hear but didn’t hear them.”^(A)

¹⁶ “The^(A) Law and the Prophets^(B) were until John; since then, the good news of the kingdom of God^(C) has been proclaimed, and everyone is urgently invited to enter it.^[a]

²⁹ “But Abraham said, ‘They have Moses and the prophets;^(A) they should listen to them.’

The Third Prediction of His Death

³¹ Then^(A) he took the Twelve aside and told them, “See, we are going up to Jerusalem.^(B) Everything that is written^(C) through the prophets about the Son of Man will be accomplished.^(D)

²⁵ He said to them, “How foolish you are, and how slow^[a] to believe all that the prophets have spoken!^(A)

²⁷ Then beginning with Moses^(A) and all the Prophets,^(B) he interpreted for them the things concerning himself in all the Scriptures.^(C)

⁴⁴ He told them, “These are my words^(A) that I spoke to you while I was still with you—that everything written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets,^(B) and the Psalms^(C) must be fulfilled.”
