²⁴ He bought the hill ^[a]Samaria from Shemer for two talents of silver; and he built on the hill, and named the city which he built ^[b](A)Samaria, after the name of Shemer, the owner of the hill.

²⁹ Now Ahab the son of Omri became king over Israel in the thirty-eighth year of Asa king of Judah, and Ahab the son of Omri reigned over Israel in Samaria twenty-two years.
