¹³ The two wicked men came in and sat opposite him. Then the wicked men testified against Naboth in the presence of the people, saying, “Naboth has cursed God and the king!” So they took him outside the city and stoned him to death with stones.

²⁰ The Spirit of God enveloped^[a](A) Zechariah son of Jehoiada the priest. He stood above the people and said to them, “This is what God says, ‘Why are you transgressing the Lord’s commands so that you do not prosper?^(B) Because you have abandoned the Lord, he has abandoned you.’”^{(C) 21} But they conspired against him and stoned him at the king’s command in the courtyard of the Lord’s temple.^(D)
