¹⁹ When the Lord saw this, He despised them,
provoked to anger by His sons and daughters.

⁴⁰ Therefore the Lord’s anger burned against His people,
and He abhorred His own inheritance.^(A)

I loathe Jacob’s pride^(B)
and hate his citadels,^(C)
so I will hand over the city^(D) and everything in it.
