⁸ “‘Then I passed by you and saw you, and you were indeed at the age for love. So I spread the edge of my garment over you and covered your nakedness.^(A) I pledged myself to you,^(B) entered into a covenant with you—this is the declaration of the Lord God—and you became mine.^(C)

⁵⁹ “‘For this is what the Lord God says: I will deal with you according to what you have done, since you have despised the oath by breaking the covenant.^{(A) 60} But I will remember the covenant I made with you in the days of your youth, and I will establish a permanent covenant with you.^{(B) 61} Then you will remember your ways^(C) and be ashamed when you^[a] receive your older and younger sisters.
