⁸ The whole land of Canaan,^(A) where you now reside as a foreigner,^(B) I will give as an everlasting possession to you and your descendants after you;^(C) and I will be their God.^(D)”

⁷ Break camp and advance into the hill country of the Amorites;^(A) go to all the neighboring peoples in the Arabah,^(B) in the mountains, in the western foothills, in the Negev^(C) and along the coast, to the land of the Canaanites^(D) and to Lebanon,^(E) as far as the great river, the Euphrates.^{(F) 8} See, I have given you this land^(G).^(H) Go in and take possession of the land the Lord swore^(I) he would give to your fathers—to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob—and to their descendants after them.”

⁴ Remember how I have allotted^(A) as an inheritance^(B) for your tribes all the land of the nations that remain—the nations I conquered—between the Jordan and the Mediterranean Sea^(C) in the west.
