Esau’s Wives

³⁴ When Esau was 40 years old, he took as his wives Judith daughter of Beeri the Hittite, and Basemath daughter of Elon the Hittite.^{(A) 35} They made life bitter^[a] for Isaac and Rebekah.^(B)

⁴⁶ So Rebekah said to Isaac, “I’m sick of my life because of these Hittite women.^(A) If Jacob marries a Hittite woman like one of them,^[a] what good is my life?”^(B)
