¹⁸ After Jacob came from Paddan-aram, he arrived safely^(A) at Shechem^(B) in the land of Canaan and camped in front of the city.

³¹ whatever comes out of the doors of my house to greet me when I return in peace from the Ammonites will belong to the Lord, and I will offer it as a burnt offering.”^(A)

⁷ When four^[a] years had passed, Absalom said to the king, “Please let me go to Hebron to fulfill a vow I made to the Lord. ⁸ For your servant made a vow when I lived in Geshur of Aram,^(A) saying: If the Lord really brings me back to Jerusalem, I will worship the Lord in Hebron.”^[b](B)
