⁴⁰ You will be over my house, and all my people will obey your commands.^[a](A) Only with regard to the throne will I be greater than you.” ⁴¹ Pharaoh also said to Joseph, “See, I am placing you over all the land of Egypt.” ⁴² Pharaoh removed his signet ring from his hand and put it on Joseph’s hand, clothed him with fine linen garments, and placed a gold chain around his neck.^{(B) 43} He had Joseph ride in his second chariot, and servants called out before him, “Abrek!”^[b] So he placed him over all the land of Egypt.

⁷ An Ephraimite warrior named Zichri killed the king’s son Maaseiah, Azrikam governor of the palace, and Elkanah who was second to the king.

¹⁵ Mordecai went from the king’s presence clothed in royal purple and white, with a great gold crown and a purple robe of fine linen.^(A) The city of Susa shouted and rejoiced,^(B)

⁷ The king called out to bring in the mediums, Chaldeans, and astrologers. He said to these wise men of Babylon, “Whoever reads this inscription and gives me its interpretation will be clothed in purple, have a gold chain around his neck,^(A) and have the third highest position in the kingdom.”
