⁶ the Lord regretted that He had made man on the earth,^(A) and He was grieved in His heart. ⁷ Then the Lord said, “I will wipe off from the face of the earth mankind, whom I created, together with the animals, creatures that crawl, and birds of the sky—for I regret that I made them.”

¹⁴ So the Lord relented^(A) concerning the disaster He said He would bring on His people.

¹⁶ Then the angel extended his hand toward Jerusalem to destroy it,^(A) but the Lord relented concerning the destruction^(B) and said to the angel who was destroying^(C) the people, “Enough, withdraw your hand now!” The angel of the Lord was then at the threshing floor of Araunah^[a] the Jebusite.^(D)
