⁴ and Zedekiah king of Judah will ^(A)not escape from the hand of the Chaldeans, but he will certainly be handed over to the king of Babylon, and he will ^(B)speak with him ^[a]face to face and see him eye to eye. ⁵ Then he will ^(C)take Zedekiah to Babylon, and he will be there until I visit him,” declares the Lord. “If you fight against the Chaldeans, you will ^(D)not succeed”’?”

¹⁸ But if you do ^(A)not surrender to the officers of the king of Babylon, then this city ^(B)will be handed over to the Chaldeans; and they will burn it with fire, and ^(C)you yourself will not escape from their hands.’”

²³ They are also going to bring out all your wives and your ^(A)sons to the Chaldeans, and ^(B)you yourself will not escape from their hand, but will be seized by the hand of the king of Babylon, and ^(C)this city will be burned with fire.’”

⁸ But the army of the Chaldeans pursued the king and ^(A)overtook Zedekiah in the ^[a]desert plains of Jericho, and all his army was scattered from him.
