¹¹ I am still as strong today as I was the day Moses sent me out. My strength for battle and for daily tasks^[a] is now as it was then.^(A)

¹³ Therefore, Saul sent David away from him and made him commander over a thousand men. David led the troops^{(A) 14} and continued to be successful in all his activities because the Lord was with him.^{(B) 15} When Saul observed that David was very successful, he dreaded him. ¹⁶ But all Israel and Judah loved David^(C) because he was leading their troops.

² Even while Saul was king over us, you were the one who led us out to battle and brought us back.^(A) The Lord also said to you, ‘You will shepherd my people Israel, and you will be ruler over Israel.’”

David’s Adultery with Bathsheba

11 In the spring when kings march out to war, David sent Joab with his officers and all Israel. They destroyed the Ammonites and besieged Rabbah, but David remained in Jerusalem.^(A)
