Jerusalem Is Captured

1 Now it came about after the death of Joshua that the sons of Israel ^(A)inquired of the Lord, saying, “Who shall go up first for us ^(B)against the Canaanites, to fight against them?”

^21 (A)I in turn will no longer drive out from them any of the nations which Joshua left when he died, ²² in order to ^(B)test Israel by them, whether they will keep the way of the Lord to walk in it as their fathers ^[a]did, or not.”
