Saul Defeats the Ammonites

11 ^(A)Then Nahash the Ammonite went up and besieged ^(B)Jabesh-gilead, and all the men of Jabesh said to Nahash, ^(C)“Make a treaty with us, and we will serve you.”

^11 (A)But when the inhabitants of Jabesh-gilead heard what the Philistines had done to Saul, ^12 (B)all the valiant men arose and went all night and took the body of Saul and the bodies of his sons from the wall of Beth-shan, and they came to Jabesh ^(C)and burned them there. ¹³ And they took their bones ^(D)and buried them under ^(E)the tamarisk tree in Jabesh and ^(F)fasted seven days.
