The Birth of Jesus

2 In those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus^(A) that the whole empire^[a] should be registered.

⁵ So he took him up^[a] and showed him all the kingdoms of the world^(A) in a moment of time.

²⁸ One of them, named Agabus, stood up and predicted by the Spirit that there would be a severe famine throughout the Roman world.^[a] This took place during the reign of Claudius.^(A)

⁶ When they did not find them, they dragged Jason and some of the brothers before the city officials, shouting, “These men who have turned the world upside down have come here too,

¹⁰ Because you have kept my command to endure, I will also keep you from the hour of testing^(A) that is going to come on the whole world to test those who live on the earth.^(B)

¹⁴ For they are demonic spirits performing signs,^(A) who travel to the kings of the whole world to assemble them^(B) for the battle on the great day of God, the Almighty.^(C)
