Rejection at Nazareth

⁵⁴ He went to His hometown^(A) and began to teach them in their synagogue, so that they were astonished and said, “How did this wisdom and these miracles come to Him?^(B)

³⁰ But since the Pharisees and experts in the law^(A) had not been baptized by him, they rejected the plan of God for themselves.^(B))

¹⁸ I’ll get up, go to my father, and say to him, Father, I have sinned^(A) against heaven^(B) and in your sight.

²¹ The son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and in your sight. I’m no longer worthy to be called your son.’

²⁷ John responded, “No one can receive a single thing unless it’s given to him from heaven.
