¹¹ “I baptize you with^[a] water for repentance,^[b](A) but the One who is coming after me is more powerful than I. I am not worthy to remove^[c] His sandals. He Himself will baptize you with^[d] the Holy Spirit and fire.^(B)

⁸ I have baptized you with^[a] water,^(A) but He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.”^(B)

¹⁶ John answered them all,^(A) “I baptize you with^[a] water, but One is coming who is more powerful than I. I am not worthy to untie the strap of His sandals. He will baptize you with^[b] the Holy Spirit and fire.

³³ I didn’t know Him, but He^[a] who sent me to baptize with^[b] water told me, ‘The One you see the Spirit descending and resting on—He is the One who baptizes with^[c] the Holy Spirit.’^(A)
