⁴⁰ as a reminder to the sons of Israel so that ^(A)no ^[a]layman, anyone who was not of the ^[b]descendants of Aaron, would approach ^(B)to burn incense before the Lord; then he would not become like Korah and his group—just as the Lord had spoken to him ^[c]through Moses.

⁷ But you and your sons with you shall ^(A)attend to your priesthood for everything that concerns the altar and inside the veil, and you are to perform service. I am giving you the priesthood as ^(B)a ^[a]service that is a gift, and ^(C)the ^[b]unauthorized person who comes near shall be put to death.”

^18 (A)They opposed Uzziah the king and said to him, “^(B)It is not for you, Uzziah, to burn incense to the Lord, ^(C)but for the priests, the sons of Aaron who have been consecrated to burn incense. Leave the sanctuary, for you have been untrue and will have no honor from the Lord God.”
