³ The Lord listened to Israel’s plea and gave the Canaanites^(A) over to them. They completely destroyed them^(B) and their towns; so the place was named Hormah.^[a](C)

⁴ They traveled from Mount Hor^(D) along the route to the Red Sea,^[b](E) to go around Edom.^(F) But the people grew impatient on the way;^{(G) 5} they spoke against God^(H) and against Moses, and said, “Why have you brought us up out of Egypt^(I) to die in the wilderness?^(J) There is no bread! There is no water!^(K) And we detest this miserable food!”^(L)
