⁴ Wealth is not profitable on a day of wrath,
but righteousness rescues from death.^(A)

but the one who sows righteousness, a true reward.^(A)

²⁸ There is life in the path of righteousness,
but another path leads to death.^[a](A)

⁶ Making a fortune through a lying tongue
is a vanishing mist,^[a] a pursuit of death.^[b][c](A)

¹⁹ They will throw their silver into the streets,
and their gold will seem like something filthy.^(A)
Their silver and gold will be unable to save them
in the day of the Lord’s wrath.^(B)
They will not satisfy their appetites
or fill their stomachs,
for these were the stumbling blocks^(C)
that brought about their iniquity.
