Revised Common Lectionary (Complementary)
27 When they had brought them, they stood them before the council,[a] and the high priest questioned[b] them, 28 saying, “We gave[c] you strict orders[d] not to teach in this name.[e] Look,[f] you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching, and you intend to bring this man’s blood[g] on us!” 29 But Peter and the apostles replied,[h] “We must obey[i] God rather than people.[j] 30 The God of our forefathers[k] raised up Jesus, whom you seized and killed by hanging him on a tree.[l] 31 God exalted him[m] to his right hand as Leader[n] and Savior, to give repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sins.[o] 32 And we are witnesses of these events,[p] and so is the Holy Spirit whom God has given to those who obey[q] him.”
14 The Lord gives me strength and protects me;[a]
he has become my deliverer.”[b]

and I will proclaim what the Lord has done.[f]
18 The Lord severely[g] punished me,
but he did not hand me over to death.

Psalm 150[a]
150 Praise the Lord!
Praise God in his sanctuary;
praise him in the sky, which testifies to his strength![b]
2 Praise him for his mighty acts;
praise him for his surpassing greatness!
3 Praise him with the blast of the horn;
praise him with the lyre and the harp!
4 Praise him with the tambourine and with dancing;
praise him with stringed instruments and the flute!
5 Praise him with loud cymbals;
praise him with clanging cymbals!
6 Let everything that has breath praise the Lord!
Praise the Lord!
4 From John,[a] to the seven churches that are in the province of Asia:[b] Grace and peace to you[c] from “he who is,”[d] and who was, and who is still to come,[e] and from the seven spirits who are before his throne, 5 and from Jesus Christ—the faithful[f] witness,[g] the firstborn from among the dead, the ruler over the kings of the earth. To the one who loves us and has set us free[h] from our sins at the cost of[i] his own blood 6 and has appointed[j] us as a kingdom,[k] as priests[l] serving his God and Father—to him be the glory and the power for ever and ever![m] Amen.
7 (Look! He is returning with the clouds,[n]
and every eye will see him,
even[o] those who pierced him,[p]
and all the tribes[q] on the earth will mourn because[r] of him.
This will certainly come to pass![s] Amen.)[t]
8 “I am the Alpha and the Omega,”[u] says the Lord God—the one who is, and who was, and who is still to come—the All-Powerful![v]
Jesus’ Appearance to the Disciples
19 On the evening of that day, the first day of the week, the disciples had gathered together[a] and locked the doors[b] of the place[c] because they were afraid of the Jewish leaders.[d] Jesus came and stood among them and said to them, “Peace be with you.” 20 When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his side. Then the disciples rejoiced when they saw the Lord.[e] 21 So Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. Just as the Father has sent me, I also send you.” 22 And after he said this, he breathed on them and said,[f] “Receive the Holy Spirit.[g] 23 If you forgive anyone’s sins, they are forgiven;[h] if you retain anyone’s sins, they are retained.”[i]
The Response of Thomas
24 Now Thomas (called Didymus),[j] one of the twelve, was not with them when Jesus came. 25 The other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord!” But he replied,[k] “Unless I see the wounds[l] from the nails in his hands, and put my finger into the wounds from the nails, and put my hand into his side, I will never believe it!”[m]
26 Eight days later the disciples were again together in the house,[n] and Thomas was with them. Although the doors were locked,[o] Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!” 27 Then he said to Thomas, “Put[p] your finger here, and examine[q] my hands. Extend[r] your hand and put it[s] into my side. Do not continue in your unbelief, but believe.”[t] 28 Thomas replied to him,[u] “My Lord and my God!”[v] 29 Jesus said to him, “Have you believed because you have seen me? Blessed are the people[w] who have not seen and yet have believed.”[x]
30 Now Jesus performed[y] many other miraculous signs in the presence of the[z] disciples, which are not recorded[aa] in this book.[ab] 31 But these[ac] are recorded[ad] so that you may believe[ae] that Jesus is the Christ,[af] the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.[ag]
