Psalm 99

Psalm 99[a]

99 The Lord reigns!
The nations tremble.[b]
He sits enthroned above the cherubim;[c]
the earth shakes.[d]
The Lord is elevated[e] in Zion;
he is exalted over all the nations.
Let them praise your great and awesome name.
He[f] is holy!
The king is strong;
he loves justice.[g]
You ensure that legal decisions will be made fairly;[h]
you promote justice and equity in Jacob.
Praise[i] the Lord our God.
Worship[j] before his footstool.
He is holy!
Moses and Aaron were among his priests;
Samuel was one of those who prayed to him.[k]
They[l] prayed to the Lord and he answered them.
He spoke to them from a pillar of cloud;[m]
they obeyed his regulations and the ordinance he gave them.
O Lord our God, you answered them.
They found you to be a forgiving God,
but also one who punished their sinful deeds.[n]
Praise[o] the Lord our God!
Worship on his holy hill,
for the Lord our God is holy.

Deuteronomy 9:15-24

15 So I turned and went down the mountain while it[a] was blazing with fire; the two tablets of the covenant were in my hands. 16 When I looked, you had indeed sinned against the Lord your God and had cast for yourselves a metal calf;[b] you had quickly turned aside from the way he[c] had commanded you! 17 I grabbed the two tablets, threw them down,[d] and shattered them before your very eyes. 18 Then I again fell down before the Lord for forty days and nights; I ate and drank nothing because of all the sin you had committed, doing such evil before the Lord as to enrage him. 19 For I was terrified at the Lord’s intense anger[e] that threatened to destroy you. But he[f] listened to me this time as well. 20 The Lord was also angry enough at Aaron to kill him, but at that time I prayed for him[g] too. 21 As for your sinful thing[h] that you had made, the calf, I took it, melted it down,[i] ground it up until it was as fine as dust, and tossed the dust into the stream that flows down the mountain. 22 Moreover, you continued to provoke the Lord at Taberah,[j] Massah,[k] and Kibroth Hattaavah.[l] 23 And when he[m] sent you from Kadesh Barnea and told you, “Go up and possess the land I have given you,” you rebelled against the Lord your God[n] and would neither believe nor obey him. 24 You have been rebelling against him[o] from the very first day I knew you!

Luke 10:21-24

21 On that same occasion[a] Jesus[b] rejoiced[c] in the Holy Spirit and said, “I praise[d] you, Father, Lord[e] of heaven and earth, because[f] you have hidden these things from the wise[g] and intelligent, and revealed them to little children.[h] Yes, Father, for this was your gracious will.[i] 22 All things have been given to me by my Father.[j] No one knows who the Son is except the Father, or who the Father is except the Son and anyone to whom the Son decides[k] to reveal him.”

23 Then[l] Jesus[m] turned[n] to his[o] disciples and said privately, “Blessed[p] are the eyes that see what you see! 24 For I tell you that many prophets and kings longed to see[q] what you see but did not see it, and to hear what you hear but did not hear it.”
