Acts 9:36-43

Peter Raises Dorcas

36 Now in Joppa[a] there was a disciple named Tabitha (which in translation means[b] Dorcas).[c] She was continually doing good deeds and acts of charity.[d] 37 At that time[e] she became sick[f] and died. When they had washed[g] her body,[h] they placed it in an upstairs room. 38 Because Lydda[i] was near Joppa, when the disciples heard that Peter was there, they sent two men to him and urged him, “Come to us without delay.”[j] 39 So Peter got up and went with them, and[k] when he arrived[l] they brought him to the upper room. All[m] the widows stood beside him, crying and showing him[n] the tunics[o] and other clothing[p] Dorcas used to make[q] while she was with them. 40 But Peter sent them all outside,[r] knelt down,[s] and prayed. Turning[t] to the body, he said, “Tabitha, get up.” Then she opened her eyes, and when she saw Peter, she sat up.[u] 41 He gave[v] her his hand and helped her get up. Then he called[w] the saints and widows and presented her alive. 42 This became known throughout all[x] Joppa, and many believed in the Lord.[y] 43 So[z] Peter[aa] stayed many days in Joppa with a man named[ab] Simon, a tanner.[ac]

Psalm 23

Psalm 23[a]

A psalm of David.

23 The Lord is my shepherd,[b]
I lack nothing.[c]
He takes me to lush pastures,[d]
he leads me to refreshing water.[e]
He restores my strength.[f]
He leads me down[g] the right paths[h]
for the sake of his reputation.[i]
Even when I must walk through the darkest valley,[j]
I fear[k] no danger,[l]
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff reassure me.[m]
You prepare a feast before me[n]
in plain sight of my enemies.
You refresh[o] my head with oil;
my cup is completely full.[p]
Surely your goodness and faithfulness[q] will pursue[r] me all my days,[s]
and I will live in[t] the Lord’s house[u] for the rest of my life.[v]

Revelation 7:9-17

After these things I looked, and here was[a] an enormous crowd that no one could count, made up of persons from every nation, tribe,[b] people, and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb dressed in long white robes, and with palm branches in their hands. 10 They were shouting out in a loud voice,

“Salvation belongs to our God,[c] who is seated on the throne, and to the Lamb!”

11 And all the angels stood[d] there in a circle around the throne and around the elders and the four living creatures, and they threw themselves down with their faces to the ground[e] before the throne and worshiped God, 12 saying,

“Amen! Praise and glory,
and wisdom and thanksgiving,
and honor and power and strength
be to our God for ever and ever. Amen!”

13 Then[f] one of the elders asked[g] me, “These dressed in long white robes—who are they and where have they come from?” 14 So[h] I said to him, “My lord, you know the answer.”[i] Then[j] he said to me, “These are the ones who have come out of the great tribulation. They[k] have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb! 15 For this reason they are before the throne of God, and they serve[l] him day and night in his temple, and the one seated on the throne will shelter them.[m] 16 They will never go hungry or be thirsty again, and the sun will not beat down on them, nor any burning heat,[n] 17 because the Lamb in the middle of the throne will shepherd them and lead them to springs of living water, and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.”[o]

John 10:22-30

Jesus at the Feast of Dedication

22 Then came the feast of the Dedication[a] in Jerusalem. 23 It was winter,[b] and Jesus was walking in the temple area[c] in Solomon’s Portico.[d] 24 The Jewish leaders[e] surrounded him and asked,[f] “How long will you keep us in suspense?[g] If you are the Christ,[h] tell us plainly.”[i] 25 Jesus replied,[j] “I told you and you do not believe. The deeds[k] I do in my Father’s name testify about me. 26 But you refuse to believe because you are not my sheep. 27 My sheep listen to my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. 28 I give[l] them eternal life, and they will never perish;[m] no one will snatch[n] them from my hand. 29 My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all,[o] and no one can snatch[p] them from my Father’s hand. 30 The Father and I[q] are one.”[r]
